TEP

The TEP Mission

TEPs purpose is to create and supply cutting edge resources for the new engineering diploma at the advanced level. Providing high level professional development of the teaching workforce and re-skilling them in these new technologies and resources.

TEPs vision and focus

This is about the development of high quality, affordable and sustainable resources and about up-skilling the teaching and training workforce with high quality professional development related to those resources at the advanced level.

  1. Teaching equipment and resources - that are focused on each principal learning unit
  2. Specialist training - that supports the use and application of those resources

Yet this is the core study area for the engineering diploma. They need to be exciting and compelling materials to attract and stir the interest of students. They need also to reflect the market developments in technology and support employers' needs. These outputs will influence teaching and learning and allow a number of important outcomes to be achieved.

About the Advanced Diploma

It is taught collectively often in several teaching centres attended by each student as well as through an extended work experience and a specialist study. The award at the end of two years of study will be equivalent to three and a half A levels. The diploma will provide a direct route to engineering employment, apprenticeship or higher education.

The main components of the advanced engineering diploma are:

Generic learning 160 Hours study Functional and personal skills
Principal learning 540 Hours study Spread across 9 technical areas of study
Additional and specialist learning 360 Hours study Employer centred specialism
Work experience Minimum 10 days

Highlighted are the areas of particular interest for TEP as these can be influenced and improved most readily for and are the core of the diploma.
